Hidden Homelessness

A case study by Ellesia Hanna, Youth Social Action Apprentice at Nottingham College, Derby College and Leicester College.

Hidden homelessness is an often overlooked issue, particularly among young people in further education who may be sofa surfing or living in insecure accommodation. At Nottingham College, a group of Foundation Learning students identified this problem through personal
experience and peer observation. Motivated by their own challenges, two students, Ellie and Leah, led a powerful social action project to raise awareness of hidden homelessness and provide practical support to their peers.

The project began with a broader student group but eventually became led by two students, Ellie and Leah, who turned their personal adversity into a powerful campaign for change.
