Bridging the gap between education and employment

A case study by Phoebe McMullen, Youth Social Action Apprentice at Bournemouth and Poole College, Wiltshire College and Weymouth College

Youth Social Action provides an opportunity for students to develop employability skills and apply course knowledge through hands on experiences. Phoebe McMullen, Youth Social Action Apprentice at Bournemouth and Poole College and Wiltshire College, focuses on working with students to develop these skills to ensure they are ready for
their next step after college. At Bournemouth and Poole College, Phoebe
has been working on a long-term project to create a sensory trail at Upton Country Park. Students from multiple courses have been involved, utilising course-specific skills and gaining relevant experience for future aspirations. Following on from the previous year, students on a Graphic Design course completed a park map for the trail, working directly with park rangers as clients.
