City & Guild college engagement with employers award - Hugh Baird College Case Study

Mutually beneficial partnership work in high-demand skill areas, particularly within health and care, is improving life chances for learners, the local community and the City Region.

The college works with employers to harness the power of training solutions that achieve mutual strategic goals, ensuring employers contribute fully to programme design and skills delivery. Relevant additional qualifications and enrichment augment learning and address the skills gaps that employers need and want.

Hugh Baird College raises students’ aspirations, by ensuring their learning is meeting employers’ strategic priorities and offering employer-endorsed progression pathways that enable learners to gain high quality employment, nationally and internationally. Many students gain paid employment while still studying, often with the employers with whom they have been working.

and tested strategies, that ensure successful partnership work, underpin engagement initiatives throughout the college. There is confidence that all learners will benefit greatly as employer relationships mature throughout our whole curriculum offer, and by integrating employers into curriculum design and delivery as part of the college’s business planning model.

Employers of all sizes will engage significantly better with providers who understand their needs and deliver the skills required to work in high demand areas.
