- AoC Governance Finance Masterclass Series – Summer 2024
AoC Governance Finance Masterclass Series – Summer 2024
Venue: Online via Zoom
Date: 4 June 2024
Time: 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Fee: From £55 +VAT per session for AoC members
AoC has designed a series of six finance masterclasses to give college governors a solid understanding of the complex nature of college finances, support on the questions they should be asking, what good practice looks like and the tools to understand how and when to raise concerns. These sessions are tailored for Governors within a FE college.
These sessions have been created and will be led by Andrew Tyley, a leading expert in further education funding and a Deputy Further Education Commissioner since 2016.
All sessions will take place from 4.30-6pm, online.
- Tuesday 4 June - Introduction to college finances for Governors
- Tuesday 11 June – Interpreting college management accounts
- Tuesday 18 June – Funding and data
- Tuesday 25 June – Financial health grades and FEC financial benchmarks
- Tuesday 2 July – Managing Cash
- Tuesday 9 July – Curriculum planning and efficiency
All sessions will include interactive presentations, small discussion groups and Q&A.
For AoC members, the sessions are priced at £55 +VAT per session. The rate for non-members is £80+VAT per person per session. Delegates can choose to attend as many or as few sessions as they wish.
Andrew Tyley was appointed Deputy Further Education Commissioner in September 2016.
He is a CIPFA qualified accountant with lots of experience in the FE sector and a particular specialism in college finance. He has also worked on a range of high profile college recovery plans prior to taking up his post.
Andrew’s previous roles include:
- Finance Director and College Principal at Walford & North Shropshire College
- Finance Director at Harper Adams University
- FE and Company Secretary for the Adult Learning Inspectorate
- Management Consultant for Price Waterhouse
