Creative Arts in FE 2024 – developing student voice through creativity
Following the success of the Creative Writing in FE 2023 project, we are delighted to announce that we have launched a new version of the programme for 2024. Celebrating creative writing is still at the core of this opportunity, but we are opening up responses to the brief to include Creative Writing, Photography, Visual Arts and Spoken Word.
The Creative Arts in FE 2024 programme is supported by programme sponsors the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) and UAL Awarding Body. It is facilitated and coordinated by AoC's Charitable Trust.
This programme will give students in FE colleges the chance to create their own piece of creative writing, photography, visual art or spoken word in response to a brief set by UAL Awarding Body. It will be an opportunity to creatively explore issues that are key to young people and their peers, alongside building their own creative practice and portfolios. We of course welcome submissions from the wider college community (full entry criteria can be found below).
There will be the chance to learn from authors and artists via interviews that’ll be shared throughout the project, to understand different creative processes and approaches, and to have selected work published via the AoC website in an online anthology and gallery. We’ll also be sharing works throughout November in a social media celebration and at the annual AoC Conference in Birmingham.
The key ethos of this programme is taking part, so please encourage students to put pen to paper, transform ideas into designs and most importantly embrace their creativity.

Launch Event
We hosted the live launch event on Tuesday 5 March 2024 from 4-5pm. This gave the opportunity to hear about the brief, resources and submission guidelines for this project.
If you missed the event or would like to watch the recording back it is available via the button below. Scroll to 'Creative Arts in FE Launch Event Webinar' and you'll be able to access the recording and supporting slides.
Brief
The brief has been designed by UAL Awarding Body and should be used to guide submissions.
Resources
This session pack considers copyright and creativity. By the end of the session leaners will understand key copyright terms, and the interplay of inspiration and imitation, through discussion of copyright case studies. The session concludes with learners reflecting on how copyright can inform their original creations, and how they can protect themselves from imitation.
This session pack has been designed by the CLA.
Consent Form
All submissions must be accompanied by a signed consent form. You can download a copy here.
