Integrating youth social action into the curriculum

A case study by Aldrich Gonsalves.

Recognising the importance of Youth Social Action (YSA) in fostering active citizenship and personal development, Dudley College sought to embed YSA into the curriculum. The aim was to make the initiative inclusive and impactful, particularly for students who may face barriers to engagement. A collaboration was formed with the English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) department, acknowledging that participation in a YSA project could support ESOL learners in developing their language skills, integrating into the community, and gaining confidence in advocating for social change.
