Salary: Salary on request
Organisation: Highlands College
Location: Jersey
Closing Date: 01 Mar 2026
Our mission at Highlands College, Jersey is to meet the further and higher education needs of the people of Jersey, and our aim is to provide a high-quality, modern learning environment that enables students to develop the knowledge and skills to lead economically, socially and personally fulfilling lives.
With a turnover of £17 million, the college is the sole provider of technical and vocational further education in the Bailiwick of Jersey and plays a prominent role within the Channel Islands in delivering higher education. Highly valued for its contribution to vocational and technical education, the college is a key provider of apprenticeships and personal and professional development programmes. With over 5,000 enrolments each year, delivered by dedicated, skilled and committed teaching and support staff, the college is well placed to play a major role in developing the talent and workforce needed for Jersey’s future economy.
Following the retirement of our current Principal, Joanne Terry-Marchant, we are now seeking to appoint a new Principal of Highlands College and University College Jersey, the key anchor institution supporting local economic and social development. This role offers a significant opportunity to shape the future direction of the college and contribute to the wider education system. We are looking for a passionate and driven professional who can deliver educational excellence and provide the strategic leadership needed to sustain our progressive growth and stability.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced, values-led leader. You may already be a Principal in another college, or you may be an ambitious Deputy, Vice or Assistant Principal ready to take the next step and lead a college in your own right.
With terms and conditions that exceed those of most UK colleges, we dare to be different and are proud of our unique and advantageous position.
If you are passionate about education and want an opportunity to make a significant difference to the education system of an entire jurisdiction, with the potential to achieve world-leading impact in a special and scenic setting, this could be the role for you. A relocation package will be offered to the successful candidate.
If you believe you have the vision, skills, expertise and enthusiasm to help us realise our ambitions, we would be delighted to hear from you.
