About Us
Wirral Met College is committed to providing inclusive, highest-quality education and training, offering a diverse range of Further and Higher Education programmes to around 7,500 students each year. We have developed our strategic plan through extensive consultation with students, staff, employers and the wider community, to prioritise goals and initiatives focused on Students, People, Place, Sustainability and Collaboration
The college operates from five campuses, including the award-winning Wirral Waters campus, which is part of one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe and one of the UK Enterprise Zones. The college has a strong financial position, with extensive recent and current investment in our facilities. We work closely with businesses and community partners to drive innovation, create opportunities for growth and provide industry-standard learning experiences.
The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to the Principal and CEO, this is a high-impact role with responsibility for the strategic, financial and operational direction of the college’s corporate services areas, including Finance, Estates, Management Information Services and IT. The post holder will ensure these services are impactful, future-focused and aligned with our strategic ambitions, while championing efficiency, best practice and best value across the college.
The Chief Operating Officer will provide advice and direction to the Principal and Board on financial and corporate services matters, and lead on developing and delivering strategies that ensure growth, innovation, financial sustainability and reinvestment. Key to success will be building effective relationships and getting the best out of our talented staff.
About You
Our successful candidate will have substantial leadership experience in corporate services remits in an organisation of comparable size, scope and complexity, with the ability to formulate effective strategies that ensure ongoing efficiency, financial sustainability and service improvement. An appetite to embrace innovation, lead on change and position the college for growth will be of key importance, as will the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
