Current Opportunity - Principal & CEO
Principal & CEONewham Collegec.£150k p.a. + benefits
This is an exciting position arising as a result of Di Gowland, the current Principal, retiring and provides an opportunity to lead one of the largest and most successful colleges in London. Our unique mission provides open access learning for local people and businesses, and we are at the leading edge of delivery through our innovative, diverse, inclusive and collaborative approach, which is supported by high quality staff teams and aspiring students.
We are looking for a dynamic, inspirational and visionary leader, who will lead us to an ‘Outstanding’ College. Newham College’s 2016 Ofsted inspection confirmed that the College has maintained its ‘Good’ status and continues to build on many strengths including; very high achievement rates for the large cohort of adult students; the welcoming, safe and vibrant atmosphere of the College; strong academic and personal support for students and the focus on students progressing into employment or further study, including higher education.
Our mission provides open access to learning for young people, adults and businesses. This demands a unique response, which you will be committed to leading and enhancing. Equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do, as is inspirational leadership, collaborative strategy, and expert management.
The College financial health rating has been assessed as good for 15/16 and 16/17 is on track to ‘Outstanding’ in 17/18.
A big part of this role will be finalising and implementing the College’s accommodation strategy to ensure a sustainable college of the future. You must have experience of a successful major change programme, be currently working in a similarly challenging role and have experience of managing commercial activity.
The College’s priority is to continue to be highly responsive to local employment opportunities; maintain a highly productive relationship with the local borough council and continue to deliver on many local and regional regeneration projects. Vital is keeping its strong focus on innovation, social inclusion and open access for all local people. To achieve this we will continue to work closely with our strategic partners to enable our community to be more resilient and high-achieving with better employment prospects.
We think that when it comes to opportunities, this is nothing short of ‘Outstanding’. So, if you have the vision, energy and tenacity needed to succeed, then you are the kind of person we need.
