- Farnham College students celebrate A Level success
Farnham College students celebrate A Level success
Students at Farnham College are celebrating today after collecting their A Level results.
The college was delighted to see a 3% increase on those getting A* - C grades compared to the last pre-pandemic results in 2018/19.
Eleven of the 15 A Level subjects at Farnham College secured pass rates above the pre-pandemic national averages with 10 out of 15 subjects securing a 100% pass rate.
Farnham College’s Art and Design department maintained a 100% pass rate for the second consecutive year, with 77% of students achieving an A*- B grade. English Literature students also secured a 100% pass rate, both subjects achieving 2% above the national average.
Activate Learning’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer Cheri Ashby said: “I would like to say a massive congratulations to everyone who has passed their A Levels today and got the grades they need to go onto the next stage of their chosen career pathway.
“I know there are a number of students with offers from some of the best universities in the country and I’m incredibly proud of all the hard work they have put in over the past two years to get where they are.
“What our students have achieved today is nothing short of amazing given the disruption they have experienced to their education during the pandemic. They have demonstrated incredible levels of resilience and commitment to their studies.
“Unfortunately, there will be some of our students who have not done as well as expected today. For these students, we will be working with them to find a solution and make sure they are able to progress onto something they want to do.
“We will also be offering our support to students from other schools and colleges that might not have done as well as expected, as we want to ensure every young person achieves their potential.”
Farnham College’s top performing student, Isabella Voake, achieved two A* and an A in 3D Design, Graphics and Photography respectively and is now off to Gloucestershire University to study Architecture.
Isabella said: “I am delighted with my results, all the hard work paid off! It’s a big weight off my mind and I am excited to be going to my top choice university. I thank all my tutors at Farnham College who’s belief and encouragement to work to my full potential has helped me to achieve my dream. Farnham is a great place to learn, I loved every minute!”
Student Imogen Daly achieved an A* grade in Law, an A in Sociology and a distinction * in Psychology BTEC, which means she is thrilled to accept the offer to study Law at Exeter University
Imogen said, “I am so excited to be able to accept an offer to study Law at such a prestigious university. I worked extremely hard and my tutors were right behind me all the way.”
Student Mati Miarczynski was thrilled to find out that he will be attending his first choice university, Liverpool John Moores, together with his girlfriend Amber Mundy, to study Psychology after achieving an A* in Sociology.
Mati said “I am delighted to be able to accept my place at my first choice university and so relieved that I will be able to go with my girlfriend! I have been up since 5am waiting for my results and we are now off to London to celebrate!”
Nathan McCarthy achieved A* in 3D Design and is now all set to accept his offer of a place to study Architecture at University of Creative Arts in Canterbury.
Nathan said “I am really pleased with my results after all the hard work I put in. I have enjoyed my time at Farnham College and am excited for what the future holds for me.”
Thomas Barnsdale is excited to be able to accept a place at Royal Holloway College in Egham to study Geography.
Thomas, who achieved B/B/C in Photography, 3D Design and Geography, said: “It has always been my dream to go to university and I am so excited and relieved that I achieved the grades I needed to get into my top choice. I want to be a town planner and thanks to Farnham College, I get to realise my dream!”
Head of Farnham College, Neil Brookes said: “This is a significant event for our students today, as they collect their results for the first time ever!
“I am enormously proud of each student who can begin to take their next steps because of the work they have put in over the last 2 years.
“It hasn’t been at all easy but the motivation, energy and resilience students have shown has been truly fantastic.
“It will be these qualities and attributes that will ensure they go on to succeed in whatever their next steps will be.”
Farnham College teaches a wide range of A Levels including mathematics, psychology, English, physics, geography and sociology as well as vocational diplomas ranging from art and design, business, creative media, health and social care, and performing arts.
Additionally, our extensive network of business partners means that we provide outstanding apprenticeship opportunities.
The college is offering information, advice and guidance to anyone who is unsure as to what to do next after their A Levels. More information is available at www.activatelearning.ac.uk/advice.
