Digital Roadmap
During the first phase of the strategic partnership, AoC has conducted research to capture a baseline of the current use of digital technologies and AI adoption across college teaching, learning and business support teams. This has provided an opportunity to understand what the challenges are in VocTech adoption in FE colleges, and understand ways that colleges are addressing these.
This research highlights the positive work that colleges are doing to embed digital, AI and vocational technologies within their practices and it is evident that the FE sector does not lack ideas, creativity or commitment to innovation and adoption.
However, challenges persist around digital confidence meaning that some FE colleges are cautiously exploring what Digital Technologies and AI might mean in practice or are early on their digital transformation pathway.
The AoC roadmap has been developed as a response to the sector insights gained through our research and is designed to align with work already being undertaken by the Department for Education (DfE), the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), Jisc and Ufi VocTech Trust.
Our hope is that it will help the FE sector to review the progress they are making with their Digital Transformation and make plans on how to build upon the work already underway.
