To Our Future Generations

By Gemma Grace, Milton Keynes College

To our future generations,

If I were asked to write anything about love, it would be this.

The Oxford dictionary defines love as

“An intense feeling of deep affection”.

Indeed.

Love is a word, four letters and one syllable.

Yet it is so much more than that.

Love is more than a feeling or an emotion.

It is simplistic, emotive, spectacular.

It is love.

It is like letting off a firework, exploding sparks of colour

and magnificence in your heart.

It is love.

We love wholeheartedly, we love purely, and we love fiercely.

No inhibitions. No barriers.

It is love.

It powers and it ignites.

It flames and burns, shining proudly like a beacon.

It is love.

It envelops, excites, entices and enables.

It is love.

It wraps itself around your heart and blindsides you on

some random Thursday afternoon.

It is love.

A beloved face, a familiar scent, a shared memory, a future

planned.

You smile because you remember.

You cry because you remember.

You reminisce.

It is love.

We love. They love. Their love. Our love.

It is love.

Acceptance.

Forgiveness.

Cherished.

Loyalty.

It is love.

A song the heart sings and the mind recalls. It is unconventional, unconditional and incomparable.

Love is forever.

When new life arrives, love blooms and blossoms.

When life ends, love wilts and bends……..

But it never, ever fades.

It is so much more than anything else in the world.

Rich, vibrant and beautiful.

If you have it, hold on to it.

If you want it, look for it.

If you lost it, remember it.

It is love.

It is always love.

And it is always here.
