To Me, Myself and My love

By Latta Bhatti, Milton Keynes College

To Me, Myself and My love.

I am learning to love myself – not just in the quiet moments, but even when I fall short. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to forget the most important relationship we all have, the one with ourselves. Sometimes, the hardest person to love is ourselves. We give so much of our heart to others – our families, our friends, our partners, that we forget to leave some space for me. But over time, I’ve come to understand that self-love is not selfish.

Loving myself didn’t happen all at once.

Now I understand that I don’t have to be perfect to be valuable, and I don’t have to compare myself to anyone else. My life is not a competition. I am not here to be better than others, I am here to become a better, than the version of me I was yesterday. I have learned to take care of my body and to protect my peace. That’s not always easy, but I remind myself I am still learning, and it’s about being honest with yourself.

Being healthy in loving and caring for myself is not just for today, but for all the days of my life.
