Research Bio

The impact of FE on regional inequality

With support from the Research Further programme, Neale studied an MSc in Applied Economics. His research focussed on the role colleges play in tackling socio-economic inequality.

In his role at Edinburgh College, Neale leads the College’s engagement with local and national policy. He also conducts research projects looking at the College’s social and economic impact, and oversees a college-wide programme of practitioner research, including the College’s Research and Innovation forum.

Neale is a member of the Advisory Board for the College Development Network’s Research and Enhancement Centre and is a member of the editorial board of CAIRN journal, a journal focussed on topics and themes relating to the Scottish college sector.

Call for action

Neale is keen to connect with other researchers who share his interest in the economics of education and, particularly the role that colleges play in tackling inequality and driving sustainable economic growth.
