- Update on City and Guilds Functional Skills Paper-Based Test Results
Update on City and Guilds Functional Skills Paper-Based Test Results
10th September 2019
At the end of January, City & Guilds started using a new marking system for its paper-based Functional Skills tests. Towards the end of February, some customers started experiencing delays to their results, so we undertook an internal review.
Unfortunately, it became clear that due to an issue at the supplier’s scanning house, some papers were not scanned and uploaded into the marking system. This has led to delayed results and concerns over missing scripts. This does not apply to our online tests, which still make up the majority of our Functional Skills tests.
City & Guilds has worked with the scanning supplier to rescan all of the Functional Skills papers received since the end of January to locate the missing papers and upload them into the marking system. We are pleased to say that the vast majority of papers have now been located and we are continuing to identify more as the reconciliation process continues.
The focus is now on ensuring that these papers are marked as soon as possible so we can issue results by the end of this month.
Full support is being provided to centres and we are working with them on their learners’ details on a case by case basis.
City & Guilds is deeply sorry for the difficulties and concerns this situation has caused and is taking every step to ensure that this situation cannot happen again.
Processes have been reviewed and Baker Tilly have been commissioned to undertake a full independent audit of the end to end process and supply chain. Their findings will be shared with customers in due course.
