- Student and Staff Governor Summit 2026
Student and Staff Governor Summit 2026
Venue: The ICC, Birmingham
Date: 10 November 2026
Time: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Fee: 50 free student places available; £75 for additional students and staff governors
Staff and Student Governors will participate in tailored sessions specifically designed to support them in their roles, while also experiencing a large part of the AoC Annual Conference and gaining exposure to key sector discussions and thought leadership.
From breakout sessions and networking opportunities to keynote addresses and the Annual Conference exhibition, the programme will provide participants with opportunities to build their knowledge, skills and confidence as governors. The connections and insights gained throughout the day will be invaluable, and we believe bringing Student Governors into the Annual Conference environment provides a fantastic developmental experience while ensuring their voices are part of important sector conversations.
The Staff and Student Governor Summit is intended to support both staff and student governors in their respective roles. We ask that staff governors only attend if they are accompanied by at least one student governor from their college. This helps to ensure that the Summit remains focused on its core purpose and audience.
Agenda: the full programme will be added in the coming weeks
Tuesday 10 November
The ICC, Birmingham
Delegates will take part in a combination of AoC Annual Conference sessions and dedicated sessions designed specifically for staff and student governors, alongside opportunities to network with governors from colleges across the country.
Delegate places
The AoC Charitable Trust is pleased to fund 50 Student Governor places, meaning there is no charge for the first 50 student delegates attending the Summit.
Once the first 50 funded places have been filled, a charge of £75 + VAT will apply for each additional student delegate.
We are not able to fully fund staff governor places. The cost for Staff Governors to participate in the Summit, including access to the relevant Annual Conference sessions and dedicated workshops, is £75 + VAT.
We believe this represents a valuable investment in the continued development and contribution of both staff and student governors.
Colleges will be responsible for delegates’ travel and for any accommodation or other arrangements they choose to make outside of the Summit programme.
