Session Title: Developing global engagement opportunities: insights from the UK FE sector on building capacity for international projects

Wednesday 3 June from 14.00-15.30

As we live in an increasingly globally connected world, creating opportunities for international engagement has never been more important. International engagement fosters cross cultural understanding, enhances employability skills and enriches learning through opening up diverse perspectives. The UK Government's 2026 International Education Strategy recognises that partnerships are crucial to achieving its mission to place the UK’s world-class education system, from early years to schools, colleges and higher education, at the heart of the UK’s global engagement.

This session will explore ways in which colleges can internationalise their curriculum through student mobility and exchange schemes, develop an international offer and create sustainable international partnerships. The session will offer insight from colleges across the four nations into the current landscape, share examples of partnership working and consider how to navigate some of the challenges and complexities of international work.
