Blackburn College student secures £50,000 scholarship to UCLAN to pursue dream of becoming a doctor
Blackburn College celebrates high achiever pursuing medical degree
17 August 2023 – Blackburn local, Hussain Mughal, aged 18, has earned an impressive £50,000 scholarship to study medicine at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN).
Hussain, who studied at Blackburn College, one of the largest FE colleges in the North West, achieved an incredible 2 A*s and 2 As in his A Levels subjects. His results included an A* in Psychology, A* in his Extended Project Qualification, an A in Biology, and A in Chemistry, leading in him good stead on his dream journey to become a doctor.
Hussain celebrated his achievements with his mother and younger sister, who were full of smiles as he opened his results.
He is excited for his next steps and praised Blackburn College for their support: “My time at Blackburn College was brilliant. It was incredibly challenging, but the staff were amazing and made it easy, and helped me through my two years here at the college.”.
Commenting on Hussain’s achievement, Dr Fazal Dad, Principal and Chief Executive: “Hussain Mughal’s achievements are remarkably outstanding and demonstrate the dedication of Mughal and the teachers at Blackburn College who have worked relentlessly to support this fantastic outcome. Mughal is an excellent role model for current and future students in achieving your career aspirations and goals. The UCLAN Scholarship awarded to Mughal further demonstrates the passion, commitment and unwavering efforts of this amazing student.”
