I was a Student Governor at Heart of Worcestershire College for a year, and it was a fantastic experience – where I learnt about governance and developed key skills such as confidence, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. The responsibility in student governance is crucial for getting the most out of learner voice, and it should be the prerogative of colleges to encourage such roles. Being a Student Governor took me so many places, meeting a diverse range of people and organisations. However, it was the FE Youth Collective with the AoC that allowed me to make the absolute most of my time both locally and nationally.
