Dr Shaid Mahmood is Chair of the Association of Colleges and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) at Durham University where he is working closely with local FE colleges to develop more effective partnerships between the University and FE. Passionate about the capacity for education to transform lives, he also works with a wide range of systems leaders and partners, contributing to several non-executive roles in education and sport. Shaid was awarded the ‘UK’s Most Inspiring Person of the Year’ in the National Centre for Diversity’s annual awards. In 2023, Shaid has been made an MBE in the annual New Year Honours List for services to further education announced by the UK Government on behalf of His Majesty The King.
