WorldSkills is the largest skills competition in the world, held biennially in cities around the globe. As a legacy of the London competition in 2011, the Government and the further education sector agreed a three-year deal for an annual Skills Show to take place at the NEC, Birmingham. The UK's Skills Show, organised by WorldSkills UK, is a catalyst for economic growth, which increases public recognition, quality and take-up of vocational skills.
AoC is central to the UK partnership and is committed to the legacy. We aim to:
- drive increased college engagement in skills competitions and The Skills Show;
- encourage collaboration across agencies including the Association of Employers and Learning Providers;
- work to promote a sector-led approach, shaping skills competitions' activity and The Skills Show;
- strive to ensure that competitions and The Skills Show are accessible to all.
