- Curriculum Manager - Plumbing and Gas Apprenticeships and Professional Qualifications
Curriculum Manager - Plumbing and Gas Apprenticeships and Professional Qualifications
Salary: £58,781
Organisation: Abingdon and Witney College
Location: Bicester Construction Skills Centre
Closing Date: 29 Nov 2026
Construction is a key growth area for the College and forms an important part of our response to regional skills needs and employer demand.
The College has made significant investment in developing dedicated Construction Skills Centres, creating specialist training environments focused on apprenticeships and professional qualifications.
Recent investment has included the opening of the Oxford Construction Skills Centre, expanding provision in Electrical Installation, Sustainable Technologies and low-carbon skills. Further investment is planned within the Bicester Construction Skills Centre to support continued growth, increased capacity and enhanced facilities.
This role offers the opportunity to lead provision within one of the College's most strategically important and rapidly developing curriculum areas.
Role context
This is a specialist Curriculum Manager role with a focus on apprenticeships and professional qualifications within the construction sector.
Unlike many Curriculum Manager roles in further education, the post does not include responsibility for full-time 16-18 study programmes. Instead, the role is focused entirely on the leadership, quality and growth of Plumbing and Gas apprenticeships and professional qualifications, supporting learners from age 16 through to experienced adult professionals seeking to develop their skills.
The role is primarily based at the Bicester Construction Skills Centre and manages a team of lecturer/assessors responsible for both centre-based training and workplace assessment.
The postholder will also work within a specialist support model which includes dedicated Training Coordinators. These staff act as the primary point of contact for employers and apprentices, supporting recruitment, onboarding, progress monitoring and the wider learner journey.
Leadership Structure
The successful candidate will work alongside:
- The Head of Construction Industry Training who oversees the full provision across both centres.
- The Curriculum Manager for Carpentry and Property Maintenance, whose provision is primarily based across the two Construction Skills Centres.
- The Construction Skills Project Lead, who oversees Electrical Installation and Sustainable Technologies provision and has responsibility for the operational management and development of the Oxford Construction Skills Centre.
- A team of lecturer/assessors and Training Coordinators supporting apprentices and employers across both centres.
This collaborative structure provides specialist leadership while supporting growth across the wider construction curriculum.
Why This Role Is Different
- Focused exclusively on apprenticeships and professional qualifications.
- No responsibility for full-time 16-18 study programmes.
- Operates within dedicated Construction Skills Centres rather than a traditional college campus.
- Leads provision across both young and adult apprentices.
- Supported by a dedicated Training Coordinator model for employer and apprentice engagement.
- Works within a specialist construction leadership team.
- Sits within an area that has received significant recent investment and has ambitious growth plans.
- Provides the opportunity to shape the future development of Plumbing and Gas training within a modern, employer-led construction skills environment.
Key Dates to Note:
Closing date for applications is: Sunday 29 November 2026
Final interviews to be held at the college: TBC
