- Adult Learning Pays
- Week of action
Week of action
This week of action will see colleges, parliamentarians, employers, local leaders, learners and partners come together to champion the vital role adult education plays in supporting economic growth, improving health and wellbeing, strengthening communities and helping people access new opportunities.
It also marks the launch of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) inquiry report into adult education and a significant opportunity to build support for investment in adult learning.
Together, we'll be making the case that adult learning pays, for individuals, employers, communities and the economy.
What are we trying to achieve?
This week of activity is designed to:
- Build momentum behind the Adult Learning Pays campaign and make the case for greater investment in adult education.
- Secure political attention and support for the inquiry report's recommendations.
- Equip and mobilise college leaders as advocates for adult learning.
- Bring together a broad coalition of voices from business, local government, skills and civil society.
- Generate national, sector and local media coverage that highlights the economic and social value of adult learning.
- Put adult learners and their experiences at the heart of the campaign.
- Strengthen the sector's collective voice on adult education and lifelong learning.
What we want from you
We want colleges to be active campaign champions throughout the week.
You can support the campaign by:
- Meeting with local MPs and decision-makers.
- Hosting local adult learning events and showcases.
- Sharing learner stories and success stories.
- Generating local media coverage.
- Promoting campaign messages on social media.
We want policymakers to engage with the report's recommendations and champion adult learning nationally and locally.
We're asking decision-makers to:
- Attend campaign events and parliamentary activity.
- Support discussion of the inquiry findings.
- Champion adult learning within government and Parliament.
- Help drive policy change and investment.
We want supportive organisations to help amplify the campaign and strengthen the case for investment.
You can get involved by:
- Sharing campaign content and key messages.
- Endorsing the report's recommendations.
- Contributing supportive quotes and case studies.
- Promoting the value of adult learning through your networks.
We want local leaders to demonstrate how adult learning supports regional priorities and economic growth.
Support the campaign by:
- Visiting colleges and learner events.
- Speaking publicly about the importance of adult learning.
- Encouraging local conversations about skills and opportunity.
- Engaging with government on the report's recommendations.
Learners are at the heart of this campaign.
We want learners who feel comfortable doing so to:
- Share their experiences and stories.
- Participate in events and campaign activities.
- Help demonstrate the real-world impact of adult education.
