- Shipley College win ECFA pan-disability national football final
Shipley College win ECFA pan-disability national football final
10th July 2019
Students from across the country battled it out to become national champions in the ECFA Pan Disability Finals last week.
The one-day event was held at the prestigious St George’s Park, with all students able to enjoy the top class facilities.
Colleges travelled from far and wide, for the chance to be crowned the best college team in the country.
The teams who competed were: Shipley College, Blackpool and The Fylde College, Calderdale College, Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMet), Walsall College, Lancaster and Morecambe College, Truro and Penwith College, Petroc College and Cardiff and Vale College.
All teams played in two groups. The four teams to progress to the semi-finals were BMet College, Walsall College, Blackpool and The Fylde College and Shipley College.
All other teams played friendly fixtures in the afternoon.
It was an excellent day for Shipley College, who went from beaten finalists on their debut last year, to winning the competition this year.
The West Yorkshire college beat defending champions BMet in a dramatic semi-final penalty shootout and went on to beat Walsall College in the final.
The victory meant Shipley were crowned the 2018/19 ECFA pan disability national cup winners.
