New measures to support apprenticeships welcome, says AoC

Responding to the government's announcement on apprenticeship funding, Emma Meredith, Director of Skills Policy and Global Engagement at AoC, said: "We are pleased to see further measures to expand opportunities for young people and to ensure no-one is disadvantaged by taking up an apprenticeship. 

"Colleges across the country already work with thousands of employers who offer young people a start in work, but we also know that there is unmet demand in the apprenticeships market, and so any measures to make it easier for employers to take on a young person are very welcome. Although the bursary will target a very specific group, it is nonetheless welcome - cost or individual circumstance should not be the reason someone misses out on vital training."
