Current Opportunity - Principal and Chief Executive - Varndean College
6th September 2019
AoC Executive Recruitment are delighted to be supporting Varndean College with the appointment of a new Principal and Chief Executive.
Varndean College is far more than a successful sixth form college with a long-term distinguished record of achievement. They are an aspirational centre of learning that enables staff and students to thrive and reach their highest potential. They are also a highly inclusive institute that welcomes young people and adults from near and far, from local schools and from international communities, creating a lively and cosmopolitan mix of students. Varndean College pride themselves on their supportive and harmonious environment, where every student is given the best opportunity to succeed.
Following the retirement of the current Principal after 13 successful years in post, the new post holder will lead them on their journey of continued excellence, while ensuring financial viability through diversifying income and optimising opportunities for growth. A strong ambassador internally and externally, the new leader will enhance the reach, reputation and influence of the college, while inspiring staff and learners.
The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership skills of the highest order, with the ability to motivate at all levels and foster a values-led culture of high aspiration. You should demonstrate a strong track record of achievement in a senior leadership role within an organisation of relevant size, scale and complexity, ideally a college or other education provider, with a sound understanding of quality assurance and financial stewardship. The ability to lead and inspire best practice in teaching and learning is of key importance, as are an entrepreneurial mind-set and the capacity to deliver innovation.
