Students Celebrate Outstanding Technical and Vocational Results

Students at Hugh Baird College are celebrating outstanding results today after successfully completing their technical and vocational qualifications across a wide range of industry-focused subject areas.

Based at the College’s Bootle campus, students have worked hard throughout their studies and are now looking ahead to their next steps. For some, this will mean progressing into their chosen career, while others will be moving on to an apprenticeship, university or further study.

The College achieved an impressive 100% pass rate across all T-level courses, 94.5% pass rate across Level 3 and equivalent courses and 100% pass rates in 11 subject areas, including Electrical Installation, Engineering, Construction, Beauty Therapy and Health and Social Care.

Hugh Baird College continues to build on its outstanding reputation, most recently being named national winner of the RCU Award for Support for Students at the Association of Colleges (AoC) Beacon Awards 2025/26, one of the highest honours in further education, in recognition of its pioneering Education for All programme. The College has also been ranked the number one FE college for student achievement in the Liverpool City Region, with an achievement rate of 89.5%, well above the national average, and its 16 to 18 provision performing 4.1 percentage points above the national benchmark. These successes follow the College's Outstanding Ofsted rating, one of only three FE colleges in the North West to hold this status.

Yalmaz Mehmet-Mert, a BTEC Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Level 3 student, who gained Distinction* said:

I honestly couldn’t believe it when I saw my results. I’m really pleased with how I’ve done, and I feel so proud of myself that all my hard work has been worth it. I am excited to start my degree at the University of Leeds studying Electrical Engineering.

Amelia Carter, a T-level Early Years Educator student, who gained Distinction* said:

I’m so proud of my results and excited to be starting my next chapter in full-time employment. All the hard work has paid off, and I’m looking forward to putting everything I’ve learned into practice and seeing where this opportunity takes me.

Lila Frost, a Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology Level 3 student, who gained a Distinction* said:

I’m really happy with my results and so proud of myself. College has helped me grow in confidence as well as academically, and I’m excited to start Manchester Metropolitan University to study a degree in Film.

Patrick Martin, a T-level Surveying and Design for Construction and the Built Environment student said:

Studying a T-level in Surveying and Design for Construction was the right choice for me. I’ve enjoyed being able to get out and gain real experience while still studying, and I feel like it’s given me a great start for my future career. I have secured a Degree Apprenticeship in Construction Management at Trustland Construction.

Mai-Li Lawrence, who studied T-level Supporting Healthcare - Supporting the Adult Nursing Team, reflected on his results:

The support from my tutors has made such a difference. They’ve always believed in me, even when I doubted myself, and their encouragement has helped me achieve results I’m really happy with. I am going to study a degree in Adult Mental Health Nursing with integrated Masters at Liverpool John Moores University.

• Scott Finley an BTEC Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Level 3 student, who Distinction*
• Amelia Carter, a T-level Early Years Educator student, who achieved Distinction*
