College students praised for achievements in Student of the Year awards
Four students have secured national awards for fantastic work at their respective colleges and in their local communities at the AoC Student of the Year Awards 2021/22 which took place online via social media. The winners and the runners up for AoC’s prestigious awards have been announced and more information about each student can be found on the college awards website.
Young Student of the Year (sponsored by Edge Foundation)
Winner: Kizzy Wade, Selby College
Runners-up: Evar Jawhar, Barnsley College and Bhavandeep Bains, Derby College DCG
Apprentice of the Year (sponsored by NOCN)
Winner: Alisha Shepherd, Barnsley College
Runners-up: Isobel Blythe, Bournemouth and Poole College
Adult Student of the Year (sponsored by Pearson)
Winner: Scott Bailey, Cheshire College South & West
Runners-up: Dylan Westgarth, Bede Sixth Form College part of the The Education Training Collective
Higher Education Student of the Year (sponsored by Shakespeare Martineau)
Winner: Ian Kenworthy, Oldham College
Runners-up: Simon Wood, Redcar and Cleveland College part of The Education Training Collective
Sally Dicketts, President of the Association of Colleges, said:
"Congratulations to all our winners this year for their amazing contributions. It demonstrates the high quality learning taking place in our colleges and the dedication of the staff supporting these learners, all achieved in a pandemic. Well done to everyone."
