AoC's pay recommendation 2026/27
Gerry McDonald CBE, Group Principal & CEO, New City College, AoC Employment Policy Group Chair and AoC Board Member, said: "Following constructive and positive discussions at the National Joint Forum (NJF), the Association of Colleges (AoC) is recommending a 3.5% pay increase for all college staff for the 2026/27 academic year, where colleges’ financial circumstances and funding allocations allow. Where colleges are able to go beyond this recommendation because of their financial position and funding allocations, AoC encourages them to do so.
"The government's announcement on 1 July 2026 of an additional £485 million over two years for colleges to support recruitment and retention was a welcome development and reflects the sustained campaigning, lobbying and evidence provided by colleges, AoC and the trade unions. We acknowledge the role played by all those involved in securing this investment and will continue to work together to make the case for further funding for the sector.
"AoC remains committed to constructive engagement with the recognised trade unions and to identifying practical solutions which improve pay, reduce workload and support the long-term sustainability of the further education workforce."
