AoC welcomes appointment of Dame Christine Gilbert as new Ofsted chair

Responding to the appointment of Dame Christine Gilbert as the next Chair of Ofsted, David Hughes CBE, Chief Executive, Association of Colleges said: "The Association of Colleges welcomes the appointment of Dame Christine Gilbert as the new chair of Ofsted. Dame Christine brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the education sector and the role of inspection within it.

"Ofsted has a challenging time ahead working towards implementation of the new inspection framework. The timetable for these implementations is tight, with significant milestones expected by November and we will do our bit to ensure colleges are ready for the changes. This will require a concerted effort and dedication from all involved to ensure successful and timely transition.

"AoC is keen to ensure the best interests of students, staff and colleges are at the heart of Ofsted’s reform. We look forward to engaging with the inspectorate over the summer and into the autumn term."
