AoC responds to NOCN and CCATF's Boosting Routes into Industry report

Emma Meredith, Director of Skills Policy and Global Engagement, Association of Colleges, said:

This report provides a timely insight into the views of construction employers across the country. AoC supports the need for pathways to construction careers that are modularised and flexible, to fill the well-documented skills gap in the construction industry.

“AoC research published in 2023 shows that colleges are responding to industry shortages with more than half introducing extra courses in construction. At the same time, however, a third had waiting lists for full-time construction courses. To meet demand from learners and industry, long-term planning and government investment is needed to allow colleges to deliver the volume of courses needed, at the right levels, and to recruit, remunerate and retain the skilled staff to teach them.”
