AoC responds to launch of Alan Milburn's NEET review

David Hughes, AoC Chief Executive said: “I am really pleased to see this review happening, and with a college leaders amongst the experts supporting it. The rising NEET numbers are very worrying. Those teenage and early adult years are so formative and should be times of growth, exploration and development, but we seem to have a situation now where too many young people do not get the support or help they need, or are not sufficiently engaged and motivated by what they are offered.

"We will ensure that the role colleges already play are set out for the review to learn from, as well as engaging college leaders in discussions about how they could do more and learn from others. As anchor institutions, colleges can play a pivotal part, in partnership with others to offer more opportunities and hope for young people. ”
