AoC National Futsal Series created solely for post-16 education institutions

07 April 2020

AoC Sport has created the AoC National Futsal Series (NFS) for 2020/21, which is the only post-16 futsal league open to education institutions. As the FA’s only futsal provider for FE, The NFS aligns to the FA’s National Futsal Series and is underpinned by AoC Sport’s Regional Futsal League offer. The competition is open to any post-16 education institution or EFL Trust Club and has been set up in consultation with AoC Sport members and EFL Trust Club community organisations. The league structure was developed from the National Futsal League, which ran for the first time in 2019/20, but unfortunately could not be completed due to the coronavirus outbreak. The competition will run throughout the academic year (see slide 2 on the presentation below for more details), with the finals taking place in May. It is a fantastic opportunity for futsal trailblazers to test themselves against the best teams in the country. It is also a useful competitive option for those institutions that do not have enough players to commit to an 11-aside football programme.

Regional Futsal League

The AoC NFS will be underpinned by the regional league offering, which will continue to run in the same vein as the previous two seasons. This allows for teams to compete in a tournament style, across four or eight dates (term 1 and/or term 2). The regional mixed leagues, which take place in the autumn term, are primarily aimed at EFL Trust ‘tier 2’ futsal teams but are also open to any AoC Sport members / affiliates playing in other sport competitions. Further details about the format and costs of the National and Regional futsal offers can be found in the presentation below. National Futsal Series 2020-21
