Professor Victoria Baines, Visiting Professor of Technology and Society, Gresham College
Victoria Baines is Professor Emerita of Information Technology and current Visiting Professor of Technology and Society at Gresham College, London’s oldest higher education institution, founded in 1597. She gives public lectures and produces documentaries that demystify digital technology for ordinary people. She is also a Liveryman of the City of London and is a member of the Court of the IT Livery Company. She has a professional background in international law enforcement and Big Tech, where she has worked on a range of online safety issues including cybercrime and disinformation. She now advises international organisations and technology companies, and conducts independent research into myths about technology – and how to challenge them.
