Carole Drury

Carole has worked in the FE sector for most of her working life, as a lecturer, middle and senior manager, governance professional and more recently as a National Leader of Governance. Her varied leadership experience within colleges, including strategic planning, student support, safeguarding, EDI, curriculum development, higher education, business development and quality assurance, has provided Carole with a strong background to conduct board reviews and make recommendations for improving governance.

As an educational consultant, Carole has worked on board reviews since their introduction as part of the AoC/ETF pilot team and has now carried out a significant number of reviews of both general FE colleges and 6th form colleges as well as moderating the reviews of other members of the team.

Through her former roles as National Subject Specialist and National Leader of Governance (2015-2023), Carole is highly experienced at providing support to college boards in governance improvement and through individual guidance for governance professionals. She has also been involved in the development, assessment and verification of level 6 and 7 qualifications for governance professionals through ETF and Institute of Directors.

Carole has lived in the beautiful Lake District for over 30 years and spends any spare time on the golf course or sailing on Windermere.
