Badminton is a fast-paced racket sport played by millions across the globe, known for its speed, agility and tactical play. Whether played as singles or doubles, athletes compete to score points by striking a shuttlecock over the net and into their opponent's court.
The sport is highly inclusive and accessible, welcoming players of all ages, genders and abilities. Combining quick reactions, endurance and precision, badminton provides an exciting challenge for both recreational and competitive participants.
Badminton England governs and promotes badminton throughout England, supporting clubs, competitions, workforce development and participation programmes while creating pathways to elite performance.
No Strings
The primary objective of the No Strings Badminton brand is to inspire and nurture a lifelong passion for badminton among players 12 years and over. By providing accessible sessions for young people and adults and providing the opportunity to access quality coaching, and exciting competition opportunities, the program aims to:
- Increase participation in badminton across the country.
- Support people to develop fundamental badminton skills and foster a love for the sport.
- Promote values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition amongst all participants.
- Generate a team of deliverers that can support the nation to play more badminton.
No Strings Youth
No Strings Badminton Youth is their junior participation offer. These weekly sessions provide players with a fun and sociable badminton experience. Youth sessions are open to anyone aged 12 – 17 of any playing ability.
These sessions can be tailored to specific target markets such as girls only and 15-17 years old.
No Strings Play
No Strings Badminton Play is our adult participation offer. These weekly sessions provide players with a fun and sociable badminton experience. Play sessions are open to anyone aged 18 and over of any playing ability.
These sessions can be tailored to specific target markets for example ladies only and over 50s.
No Strings Coordinator
Badminton England are offering free online No Strings Coordinator Training, that college staff or student leaders could go through to start to create their own No Strings session at the college..
If you are interested you will need to register your interest in the training here: No Strings Coordinator Expression of Interest.
Once registered, participants will receive an automated email with details on how to access the online training. Please note that this email may occasionally be filtered into junk or spam folders.
The training is available to anyone aged 18 or over and is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and confidence to deliver beginner-friendly badminton sessions. After completing the training, participants will be invited to complete Badminton England's Adult Programmes Workforce Form. Those planning to start delivering sessions within the next six months will receive a complimentary Badminton England T-shirt.
Following completion of the training, participants will also be able to activate a free No Strings Coordinator Membership with Badminton England. This membership includes insurance cover for the delivery of No Strings sessions, providing additional support and peace of mind as they begin engaging new players in badminton.
