Powerlifting
Powerlifting is a strength-based sport that focuses on three main lifts:
- Squat – Lifting a weighted barbell from a squatting position to a standing position.
- Bench Press – Pressing a weighted barbell upward while lying on a bench.
- Deadlift – Lifting a weighted barbell from the floor to a standing position.
Competitors aim to lift the maximum weight possible in each of these lifts, and their best successful attempt in each is combined for a total score
Clubs and Gyms are the bedrock that underpin British Powerlifting and these offer an invaluable location for training and meeting likeminded people. Whilst Powerlifting is in many ways a personal undertaking, with some lifters choosing to train alone and even in the home gym environment, we cannot stress enough the value of training in a safe facility with knowledgeable, trained, and experienced lifters and Coaches.
