Barnsley College is a large tertiary College serving the Barnsley Metropolitan Borough and surrounding areas in South Yorkshire. The College is the main provider of post-16 education in the borough and plays a vital role within the Yorkshire and Humber region.
At Barnsley College, we are committed to putting the needs of our students first and promoting a positive working environment across all campuses. Barnsley College is more than just a college, as many of our facilities are operating as commercial businesses alongside everyday teaching. Our vision, purpose, values, and strategic priorities ensure that our focus is inspiring our learners and transforming lives. We encourage all our staff and students to dream big. We are proud to say that each passionate member of our outstanding organisation is always striving for excellence. This positive culture has a real impact on the aspirations of our students.
We are now seeking a new Deputy Principal – Quality and Performance. You will play a visible role in the college, reporting directly to the Principal and CEO. You will be key member of the Senior Leadership Team and a designated Senior Post Holder and will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction, performance, and continuous improvement of the college. As the College Quality Nominee, you will hold overarching responsibility for the quality, effectiveness, and performance of the institution, ensuring excellence is embedded across all areas of provision and delivering outstanding outcomes for learners.
You will be an inspirational and influential leader, combining strategic vision with a relentless focus on quality and performance. You will possess the credibility, expertise, and ambition to drive innovation, foster excellence, and ensure the college continues to strengthen its reputation as a high-performing and learner-centred institution.
Our purpose is to transform lives, and this doesn’t start and end with our students. We also aim to transform the lives of our colleagues as well. If you believe that you have the vision, skills, expertise, and enthusiasm to make a difference and help us realise our ambitions, we want to hear from you.
Barnsley College is committed to creating a dynamic and diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all candidates regardless of their gender, disability, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or faith. Disabled applicants who meet the minimum essential criteria will be guaranteed an interview. The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure from DBS.
Key Dates to Note:
Closing date for applications is: Monday 31 August 2026
First-round Interviews (to take place via Teams): Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 September 2026
Final selection date (to take place at the college): Tuesday 15 September 2026
