AoC Sport is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Ryan as the new Chairperson of English Colleges FA (ECFA) Committee. With extensive experience of ECFA through his engagement as a player, teacher, manager and now as Vice Principle at RNN Group, Mark brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to the role.

In his new capacity, Mark will lead the ECFA Committee in its mission to shape the strategic direction of college football while ensuring AoC Sport are delivering high quality football services. His strategic vision and dedication to ensuring the best opportunities for students will be invaluable to the committee and ensuring that AoC Sport’s football delivery continues to meet the needs of the members.

“I am really proud and excited to have the opportunity to chair ECFA Committee and I look forward to helping to develop the aspirations of our learners across FE and beyond, alongside supporting the excellent work already underway to fulfil ECFA’s responsibility for aligning with the AoC Strategy and AoC Sport Strategic Framework. I would like to thank Jo Maher for the work she has undertaken and look forward to building on her success in the future.”

Mark Ryan

Mark Ryan replaces Jo Maher, who has left Further Education to take up a new role as Pro Vice-Chancellor for Sport at Loughborough University and thus stepped down from ECFA Committee. Jo served ECFA Committee with distinction over the past 5 years as a member and then as Chairperson since 2021.

AoC Sport extends its gratitude to Jo for her dedicated service and invaluable contributions to the committee. Jo will work closely with Mark Ryan and AoC Sport through her roles as Independent Board Member for AoC Sport and as Further Education’s representative on The FA Council.
