ECFA Activators and staff enjoy first flagship event of the year!

01 December 2022

The first ECFA Activator & Staff event of the academic year has taken place at two very exciting venues, for the South members Reading FC and the North The Etihad! The events were attended by 180 attendees who are committed to engaging young people in sport in their colleges across the country. Each college is required to recruit two student Activators to support the development of football at the college and in the community as part of the ECFA Accredited College programme. In return, ECFA, the football development arm of AoC Sport, provides training and networking opportunities to support the development of these young leaders and member of staff.

Activators were given the opportunity to hear from a selection of guest speakers, including members from The FA National Youth Council. The speakers shared their experiences through youth leadership and how beneficial their volunteering was to get their first step into a sporting career.

While Activators were having fun participating in ballonagenddon the staff were hearing from guest speakers from The Football Association and local County Football Associations on how Volunteering is vital for skill development and the opportunities there are available within their communities for the Activators.

The day was bought to a close with Activators and Staff creating their ‘Game Changing Ideas’. Pledging how they plan to impact their sporting environment together back at college, Rosie Bell an Activator from York College said “I am excited to see the difference I can make and the impact I can have on young people that wouldn’t usually get opportunities in sport.”
