We are delighted to announce that 20 colleges have received £10,000 of funding through the ECFA Restart Grant.
The small grants fund was set up specifically to support ECFA Accredited Colleges to subsidise any extra costs incurred due to COVID-10 mitigations.
The £500 grant will be used to cover college expenses such as extra equipment, increased staff costs to oversee football delivery, extra travel costs and extra facility space needed.
Dan Greenwood, AoC Sport National Football Development Officer, said:
“We knew that colleges were going to find it difficult to restart their football programmes in September without adapting the way that these are delivered.
These adaptations and risk mitigations often come at a cost to colleges which can cause barriers to students accessing football opportunities. We hope this grant will support colleges to implement the changes needed to provide their students with a safe environment to return to football.”

We will be allocating a further £4,000 in Restart Grant funding in January to those colleges that have applied but had to delay the restart of their football programmes until January. This will take the total number of ECFA Accredited Colleges accessing the Restart Grant to 28. We look forward to sharing their ‘return to football’ stories across the network over the academic year.
