Read about Leyton Sixth Form College Sport Leaders
Leyton Sixth Form College Sports Leaders are required to complete a minimum of 10 hours of volunteering across the academic year to complete their course, through the volunteering that they undertake, they’ll support several community organisations and initiatives. A large number of their volunteering hours will be spent supporting the Waltham Forest Sports Federation (WFSF), providing sporting opportunities for local primary school children, this has led to them supporting events like the Waltham Forest Borough cross country, indoor athletics league and an event that focused on introducing seated volleyball to primary school-aged children. In addition to the support provided to the WFSF, our Sports Leaders recently supported the physical activity sessions that were taking place as part of Dementia Awareness Week. The group provided additional coaching for a variety of different seated activities, which included chair aerobics and boccia. Many of the Sports Leaders are also studying L3 BTEC and A-Level programmes whilst completing the course and several will progress on to working in the fitness industry or to studying a sports-related degree.
