AoC Sport Transgender Participation in Sport and Physical Activity Guidance for Further Education

26 October 2022

AoC Sport aims to get every student active regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity leave, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.

To reaffirm our commitment to inclusion and to mark Rainbow Laces Day, AoC Sport is proud to launch our ‘Transgender Participation in Sport and Physical Activity Guidance for Further Education’.

The guidance can be found here which offers guidance for competitive and recreational sport and physical activity as well as a glossary of terms. AoC Sport is committed to ensuring that all guidance and policies are up to date and consistent with UK Sport Councils and NGB guidance. To do so, AoC Sport will regularly look to update the ‘AoC Sport Transgender Participation in Sport and Physical Activity Guidance for Further Education’ with any changes in the sector.

If member colleges have a query about the eligibility of a trans/transgender student, colleges can contact AoC Sport Diversity and Inclusion Development Officer, Shannon Howarth

Sport England also has further information on how your college can get LGBTQ+ people active. Read more here
