AoC Sport has combined several programmes to create The AoC Sport Student Leadership Programme! A one-stop shop for student leadership opportunities is delivered by AoC Sport to support colleges in enhancing and developing volunteering programmes for their students.

The programme aims to get more college students to volunteer in sport and physical activity and to diversify the volunteer workforce. Any AoC Sport member college can register to be part of the programme, whether they have an existing volunteer programme or not.

A large part of the programme is our five student leadership strands of This Girl Can Ambassadors, Green Sports Ambassadors, Inclusion Ambassadors, Wellbeing Ambassadors and ECFA Football Activators. Each strand has its own learner journey, qualification, training, and support to help students develop and deliver opportunities for their peers to become and remain physically active.

In addition, there are funding opportunities available for colleges to develop and deliver projects to support under-represented groups to engage in volunteering roles both in the college and local community. This year we have added a project fund for student ambassadors to bid into to help fund student-led projects in efforts to decrease levels of inactivity.

During the AoC Learning Week, we heard from Leah Kelly, a sport ambassador from Blackburn College, about her experience of being involved in the programme, what she got up to and the impact being involved has had on her and the college:

There are currently over 130 colleges that are part of the Student Leadership Programme, either formerly part of the Leadership Academy, ECFA Accredited Colleges programmes, or both which we have combined to create one all-encompassing student leadership offer.

This short video explains the programme, as well as further details surrounding the programme and how to sign up which can be found here.
