Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The Challenge

Senior leaders in further education have always expressed their support for equality, diversity and inclusion, but progress in this area is slow. Change is difficult and it can bring about uncertainty, volatility, ambiguity and unpredictability.

The Goal

We want to support leaders, practitioners and students to embed equality, diversity and inclusion throughout their college.

Our Work

Every year, the AoC hosts the Beacon Awards, which shine a light on the incredible work happening in our colleges. The Inclusive Learning and Leadership Beacon Award is an important prize which highlights the best practice around equality, diversity and inclusion.

Inclusive leadership is a unique and critical capability, and leaders have a key role to play in helping colleges adapt to diverse and changing markets, as well as nurture ideas and talent.

The colleges and individuals who have won this award in the past are those who treat their staff and students fairly and respectfully. The more people feel included, the more they speak up, go the extra mile, and collaborate; all of which ultimately, lifts performance.

The AoC Group is an equal opportunities employer, and recognises the need for diverse thinking. Therefore, we build equality, diversity and inclusion into all that we do. We celebrate, value and actively promote fairness, respect, equality, diversity and inclusion.

The AoC is also working with the National Centre for Diversity (NCFD) towards a Leader in Diversity status. You can find more about how we support EDI in our organisation, as well as the sector, on our equality, diversity and inclusion webpage.

Get Involved

We secure funding from a range of organisations and partners that wish to work with colleges and students through the vehicle of projects, programmes and research, managed and delivered by AoC. If you would like to know more please contact us.
