Reanna is an exceptional student whose transformative journey from not attending school to academic and personal success epitomises courage, resilience, and leadership. Raised in a gypsy and travelling community, Reanna had limited access to formal education and left school with no qualifications. At just 16, she took the brave step to attend an open evening at college, determined to build a future in hairdressing. Despite minimal academic background, she self-studied over the summer and enrolled in a Level 1 hairdressing course. In just three years, she progressed to Level 3, achieving distinctions throughout and passing GCSE English and maths. Her impact extends beyond the classroom. Reanna has led annual donation drives for the Salvation Army, volunteered at the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital to support children undergoing chemotherapy, and championed sustainability through her leadership in joining the Green Salon Collective. Her professionalism, empathy, and strong sense of social responsibility have deeply enriched both the college and the wider community. As a mentor to younger students, Reanna offers support and encouragement rooted in her own journey, proving that with perseverance and belief, obstacles can be overcome. Her personal transformation, from a quiet, uncertain teenager to a confident leader, has inspired both peers and staff. Reanna also overcame cultural opposition to her educational journey, ultimately gaining the respect of her community and becoming a role model for change. Her story is a powerful example of what can be achieved when determination meets opportunity.
