The Sheffield College is a further and higher education college that provides academic, vocational, and professional qualifications to approximately 14,500 young people and adults a year. We have high aspirations and standards for ourselves, and our learners and this role will be a key one in supporting the College’s mission to be consistently great and ensure our students get the qualifications and skills they need to go further in employment, careers, apprenticeships, further training and university level courses. Our mission is transforming lives through learning. The college, which is Ofsted graded ‘good’, provides high-quality academic, technical, and vocational training to enhance qualifications, skills, and employability across the region, and operates from a number of campuses and sites across the city.
We are now seeking a Chair to the Corporation. You will play a central role in shaping the culture of the Board and the ethos and direction of the college, listening to and getting the best out of governors, challenging and supporting the Principal and Chief Executive and Executive team, and line-managing the Principal and Chief Executive and the Director of Governance. The Chair has responsibility to ensure that in taking these decisions, the interests of students, staff, and employers are always considered.
