- Principal - Southwark College
Principal - Southwark College
Salary: Competitive
Organisation: NCG
Location: London
Closing Date: 07 Jun 2026
NCG is one of the UK’s largest and most diverse education groups, bringing together seven colleges, a dedicated Higher Education Centre and a comprehensive online learning offer to create life‑changing opportunities for learners of all ages.
The group offers an excellent environment for its college Principals, who are members of the Group Executive Team, combining a strong internal support network with opportunities to lead initiatives across the country while retaining the autonomy to shape strategies that make a meaningful local impact.
Each college has its own local Board which acts as a committee of the Corporation Board, its own Accountability Statement and unique culture, focused on creating life-changing opportunities for local individuals and strengthening the prosperity of their communities.
Southwark College has enjoyed significant success recently. It has achieved year‑on‑year growth in student numbers and continues to strengthen student achievement. Deeply embedded in its community, the college enjoys a strong reputation, influential partnerships, and a curriculum offer that is both impactful and full of potential for further development. Its modern, centrally located campus near Waterloo Station and welcoming culture provide an inspiring environment for learners and staff alike. Financially robust at a local level, the college also benefits from the wider financial strength and stability of NCG, including significant opportunities for capital investment.
This is an exciting time to join us as the new Principal of Southwark College. Building on solid foundations, you will lead the culture, ethos and strategic direction of the college, working closely with the local Board and NCG’s Executive Team. You will champion aspiration and inclusivity, ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning, drive innovation in the curriculum, and ensure an excellent student experience for every learner. Alongside leading Southwark College, you will take on an NCG-wide leadership portfolio.
We are seeking a visible, inspirational leader with a proven track record of strategic leadership within Further Education. You will bring the ability to motivate and empower talented staff, alongside strong ambassadorial skills to build and sustain relationships with key external partners. We will welcome an individual with a collaborative, inclusive leadership style and a forward‑thinking, solutions‑focused mindset.
Southwark College has a strong track record of developing senior leaders with the last two Principals having progressed to CEO roles within London colleges. This role offers an exceptional platform for career development within a high‑profile, supportive and ambitious environment.
