The Careers and Enterprise Company careers education and guidance award - Bishop Burton College Case Study

The ‘Positive Outcomes Through Quality Careers Guidance’ initiative was to fully integrate CEIAG within the curriculum and utilise strong links with industry and employers for enrichment, work experience and skills development.

IAG is integrated into every aspect of the learner journey through ongoing individual target setting. Personal and professional development ‘recruitable me’ branded resources provide differentiated group activities and individual resources, which are easily identifiable as linked to developing employability skills and helping to prepare for employment and progression.

Effective collaboration with employers impacts on curriculum design and delivery enabling students to gain up to date experience in many vocational sectors. This is enriched by contributions from a wide range of industry speakers giving a greater degree of exposure in relation to a range of situations, environments and individuals.

All students have access to a variety of events, links with employers, guest speakers from industry, competitions, volunteering and work placement activities to further develop a range of employability and key transferable skills. The college is part of Humber careers hub pilot to further develop effective cross provider careers education.

The embedded commitment to meeting young people’s needs for high quality impartial careers education and support is evidenced by 97% positive destinations.
