History of organisation: Heart of Worcestershire (HoW) College was formed in 2014 with the merger of Worcester College of Technology and North East Worcestershire (NEW) College.

Turnover is £30M+. Broad portfolio with circa 250 SEND students and 1400 on HE and Professional courses. Circa 3000 16-19 students with some circa 200 apprentices and circa 5000 adults.

4 sites in Bromsgrove, Malvern, Redditch and Worcester.

Sit in two LEPs. Worcestershire and the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP.

Leader in eLearning. Created the Blended Learning Consortium of some 130+ Colleges who collectively produce bespoke learning products to support the technical and vocational education curriculum.

Ofsted good (2018) and recognised for work in eLearning and SEND.

Successful capital investment over the last 6 years means the estate, both physical and virtual, is in good shape.

Experience to draw from: 35 years in education, the last 20 in FE Colleges, having returned from a spell in the University sector. Worked in FE across 5 regions : East and West Midlands, Yorkshire & Humberside, Durham and Tyne and Wear.

Principal/CEO for ten years with another ten years in College SLT as AP,VP and DP/DCEO.

Chair of ASCL FE (previously PPC) and represent FE/Post 16 on ASCL Executive and Council.

Member of the Worcestershire LEP for some six years and sit on the WLEPs FAR Committee.

I was appointed by the then LSC and the College concerned to recover an inadequate College. I have in my FE senior leadership/management career been Ofsted graded as outstanding, good and RI. I’d grade myself as sound with the odd clever moment! One Queens Award and three Beacon Awards achieved for Colleges during my time as a senior leader.

A teacher/ economist with an MBA and professional Marketing qualifications. I bring a blend of the analytical and creative.

I like technology and I like change. Led a merger and some capital projects. College nominee in my time.

Effective curriculum management leading to impactful learning is still what excites me.
